OUR MAGNIFICENT UNIVERSE
by Sandy Sanderson
The WILL program Our Magnificent Universe presented in May 2011 by Gary Emerson is an example of the great opportunities for WILL members to have unique intellectual experiences in Silver City. The clear, dark skies here were the attraction for Gary when it was time for him to retire in 2005. The following paragraph, written in his own words, is a report on the presentation.

"I would say that in our presentation 'Our Magnificent Universe' that Thursday was the poorest quality and Saturday was the best and that a real part of this was the temperature at the time of the event. Thursday was very cold and uncomfortable for almost everyone, including me. Saturday evening was very pleasant. Also, by Saturday we had the timing better with the musicians. We had the fewest people on Thursday evening and the most on Saturday evening. The feedback on the presentations has been very positive, and a lot of people would like to see a repeat."

WILL is pleased that a repeat performance is possible. Additionally, WILL members and the community at large can look forward to Gary's next program Life in the Universe in the Lunch and Learn series on October 5. Unlike the presentation in May, which was held at the Seedboat Gallery Outdoor Courtyard under dark skies, the October 5th program will be held at noon in the ABC Rooms in the Global Resource Center.
